The Answered Prayer of Ibrahim
Ibrahim prayed to Allah: 'My Lord, grant me a righteous son' (Surah As-Saffat 37:100). Allah answered his prayer with glad tidings of a forbearing boy — Ismail (peace be upon him). Born after Ibrahim had waited years without children, Ismail was a sign that Allah answers the prayers of the sincere, even if the answer comes after a long period of patience.

Willing Submission to the Divine Command
When Ibrahim told his young son about the vision of sacrifice, Ismail's response was extraordinary: 'O my father, do what you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, among the patient' (Surah As-Saffat 37:102). This was not passive resignation — it was active, conscious submission to Allah's will. A child, understanding the gravity of the situation, chose obedience to Allah over self-preservation. Both father and son passed the test, and Allah ransomed Ismail with a great sacrifice (Surah As-Saffat 37:107).

Building the Ka'bah with His Father
Together, Ibrahim and Ismail raised the foundations of the Ka'bah, the first house established for the worship of Allah (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:127). As they built, they prayed: 'Our Lord, accept this from us.' They also prayed for a messenger to be raised from their descendants — a prayer fulfilled centuries later with the coming of Muhammad ﷺ (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:129).

True to His Promises
Allah praises Ismail specifically for being true to his promises (Surah Maryam 19:54). He is also described as a messenger and a prophet who commanded his family to pray and give zakah, and was pleasing to his Lord (Surah Maryam 19:54-55). These descriptions show a man whose inner character matched his outward actions — consistent, reliable, and devoted.
