Common questions about Ramadan

When does Ramadan 2026 start?

Ramadan 2026 (1447 AH) is expected to begin on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, subject to moon sighting. The exact start date may vary by one day depending on your location and the local moon sighting authority. Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days.

What time does Sehri end?

Sehri (also called Suhoor) must be completed before the Fajr adhan. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Eat Suhoor, for in Suhoor there is blessing” (Sahih Bukhari 1923). The exact time varies by city — select your city above to see today's Sehri end time.

What time is Iftar?

Iftar is at Maghrib time — the moment the sun sets. The Prophet ﷺ said: “The people will remain upon goodness as long as they hasten to break the fast” (Sahih Bukhari 1957). Use our city calendars for the exact Iftar time in your location.

What dua do you say when breaking fast?

The Prophet ﷺ would say upon breaking his fast: “Dhahaba al-zama'u wa'btallat al-'urooqu wa thabata al-ajru in sha Allah” — meaning “The thirst has gone, the veins are moistened, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah wills” (Sunan Abu Dawud 2357). See all Ramadan duas →

What is Laylatul Qadr?

Laylatul Qadr (the Night of Decree) is the most blessed night of the year. Allah says in the Quran: “The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months” (Surah Al-Qadr, 97:3). It falls in the last ten nights of Ramadan, most commonly sought on the 27th night. The Prophet ﷺ taught Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) to say: “Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul-'afwa fa'fu 'anni” (Tirmidhi 3513).
