Ad-Dukhan (The Smoke)
Verse 24of 59
وَٱتْرُكِ ٱلْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا ۖ إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌۭ مُّغْرَقُونَ﴿٢٤﴾
Translation (Sahih International)
And leave the sea in stillness. Indeed, they are an army to be drowned."
Word-by-word meaning
وَٱتْرُكِwa-ut'rukiAnd leave
ٱلْبَحْرَl-baḥrathe sea
رَهْوًا ۖrahwanat rest
إِنَّهُمْinnahumIndeed, they
جُندٌۭjundun(are) an army
مُّغْرَقُونَmugh'raqūna(to be) drowned
Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
The Story of Musa and Fir`awn, and how the Children of Israel were savedAllah tells us, `before these idolators, We tested the people of Fir`awn, the copts of Egypt.'وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ(when there came to them a noble Messenger.) means, Musa, peace be upon him, the one to whom Allah spoke.أَنْ أَدُّواْ إِلَىَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ(Deliver to me the servants of Allah.
