Verse 10of 165

وَلَقَدِ ٱسْتُهْزِئَ بِرُسُلٍۢ مِّن قَبْلِكَ فَحَاقَ بِٱلَّذِينَ سَخِرُوا۟ مِنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ﴿١٠

Translation (Sahih International)

And already were messengers ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by that which they used to ridicule.

وَلَقَدِwalaqadiAnd indeed
ٱسْتُهْزِئَus'tuh'zi-awere mocked
بِرُسُلٍۢbirusulinMessengers

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

Censuring the Rebellious and their Refusal to Accept Human MessengersAllah describes the rebellion and stubbornness of the idolators in defying the truth and arguing against it, وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ كِتَـباً فِى قِرْطَاسٍ فَلَمَسُوهُ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ(And even if We had sent down unto you a Message written on paper so that they could touch it with their hands,) meaning, if they saw this Message's descent and were eye- witnesses to that, لَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ إِنْ هَـذَآ إِلاَّ سِحْرٌ مُّ...
