Al-Anbiya (The Prophets)
Verse 13of 112
لَا تَرْكُضُوا۟ وَٱرْجِعُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَآ أُتْرِفْتُمْ فِيهِ وَمَسَٰكِنِكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْـَٔلُونَ﴿١٣﴾
Translation (Sahih International)
[Some angels said], "Do not flee but return to where you were given luxury and to your homes - perhaps you will be questioned."
Word-by-word meaning
لَاlāFlee not
تَرْكُضُوا۟tarkuḍūFlee not
وَٱرْجِعُوٓا۟wa-ir'jiʿūbut return
إِلَىٰilāto
مَآmāwhat
أُتْرِفْتُمْut'rif'tumyou were given luxury
فِيهِfīhiin it
وَمَسَـٰكِنِكُمْwamasākinikumand to your homes
لَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you may
تُسْـَٔلُونَtus'alūnabe questioned
Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
The Virtue of the Qur'an HereAllah points out the noble status of the Qur'an and urges them to recognize its worth:لَقَدْ أَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكُمْ كِتَـباً فِيهِ ذِكْرُكُمْ(Indeed, We have sent down for you a Book in which there is Dhikrukum). Ibn `Abbas said: "Honor for you.
