Al-Furqan (The Criterion)
Verse 15of 77
قُلْ أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ أَمْ جَنَّةُ ٱلْخُلْدِ ٱلَّتِى وُعِدَ ٱلْمُتَّقُونَ ۚ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَزَآءًۭ وَمَصِيرًۭا﴿١٥﴾
Translation (Sahih International)
Say, "Is that better or the Garden of Eternity which is promised to the righteous? It will be for them a reward and destination.
Word-by-word meaning
قُلْqulSay
أَذَٰلِكَadhālikaIs that
خَيْرٌkhayrunbetter
أَمْamor
جَنَّةُjannatuGarden
ٱلْخُلْدِl-khul'di(of) Eternity
ٱلَّتِىallatīwhich
وُعِدَwuʿidais promised
ٱلْمُتَّقُونَ ۚl-mutaqūna(to) the righteous
كَانَتْkānatIt will be
لَهُمْlahumfor them
جَزَآءًۭjazāana reward
وَمَصِيرًۭاwamaṣīranand destination
Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
Is the Fire better, or ParadiseHere Allah says: `O Muhammad, this that We have described to you about the state of those who are doomed, who will be dragged on their faces to Hell, which will receive them with a scowling face, with hatred and moans.
