Verse 28of 77
يَٰوَيْلَتَىٰ لَيْتَنِى لَمْ أَتَّخِذْ فُلَانًا خَلِيلًۭا﴿٢٨﴾
Translation (Sahih International)
Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken that one as a friend.

يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰyāwaylatāO woe to me
لَيْتَنِىlaytanīI wish

أَتَّخِذْattakhidhI had taken
فُلَانًاfulānanthat one
خَلِيلًۭاkhalīlan(as) a friend
Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
The Terrors of the Day of Resurrection, and how the Wrongdoers will wish that They had taken a Path with the MessengerHere Allah tells us about the terror of the Day of Resurrection and the tremendous events that will happen, including the splitting of heavens when they are pierced by the clouds, that is the shadow of the magnificent light which dazzles all sight.
