Al-Muddaththir (The Cloaked One)
Verse 1of 56
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْمُدَّثِّرُ﴿١﴾
Translation (Sahih International)
O you who covers himself [with a garment],

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you
ٱلْمُدَّثِّرُl-mudathiruwho covers himself
Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
Which was revealed in Makkahبِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـنِ الرَّحِيمِIn the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.The First Ayat to be revealed after `Read!It has been confirmed in the Sahih Al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim on the authority of Abu Salamah that Jabir bin `Abdullah informed him that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ speaking about the time period (of the pause in) revelation.
