Verse 27of 30

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ زُلْفَةًۭ سِيٓـَٔتْ وُجُوهُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَقِيلَ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تَدَّعُونَ﴿٢٧

Translation (Sahih International)

But when they see it approaching, the faces of those who disbelieve will be distressed, and it will be said, "This is that for which you used to call."

Word-by-word meaning

فَلَمَّاfalammāBut when
رَأَوْهُra-awhuthey (will) see it
زُلْفَةًۭzul'fatanapproaching
سِيٓـَٔتْsīat(will be) distressed
وُجُوهُwujūhu(the) faces
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieved
وَقِيلَwaqīlaand it will be said
هَـٰذَاhādhāThis
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(is) that which
كُنتُمkuntumyou used to
بِهِۦbihifor it
تَدَّعُونَtaddaʿūnacall

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

No One will help You and No One can grant Sustenance except for AllahAllah addresses the idolators who worship others besides Him, seeking help and sustenance from them. Allah rebukes them for what they believe, and He informs them that they will not attain that which they hope for.
