Al-Muzzammil (The Enshrouded One)
Verse 14of 20
يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَٱلْجِبَالُ وَكَانَتِ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَثِيبًۭا مَّهِيلًا﴿١٤﴾
Translation (Sahih International)
On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down.
Word-by-word meaning
يَوْمَyawma(On the) Day
تَرْجُفُtarjufuwill quake
ٱلْأَرْضُl-arḍuthe earth
وَٱلْجِبَالُwal-jibāluand the mountains
وَكَانَتِwakānatiand will become
ٱلْجِبَالُl-jibāluthe mountains
كَثِيبًۭاkathībana heap of sand
مَّهِيلًاmahīlanpouring down
Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
The Command to be Patient with the Harms of the Disbelievers and a Discussion of what They will receAllah commands His Messenger to be patient with what the foolish who reject him among his people say. Allah also commands him to keep away from them in a nice way. This means in a way that is not blameworthy.
