Verse 12of 55

وَفَجَّرْنَا ٱلْأَرْضَ عُيُونًۭا فَٱلْتَقَى ٱلْمَآءُ عَلَىٰٓ أَمْرٍۢ قَدْ قُدِرَ﴿١٢

Translation (Sahih International)

And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined.

Word-by-word meaning

وَفَجَّرْنَاwafajjarnāAnd We caused to burst
ٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍathe earth
عُيُونًۭاʿuyūnan(with) springs
فَٱلْتَقَىfal-taqāso met

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

The Story of the People of Nuh and the Lesson from itAllah the Exalted said,كَذَّبَتْ(denied) `before your people, O Muhammad,'قَوْمُ نُوحٍ فَكَذَّبُواْ عَبْدَنَا(the people of Nuh. They rejected Our servant) means, they denied him categorically and accused him of madness,وَقَالُواْ مَجْنُونٌ وَازْدُجِرَ(and said: "A madman!" Wazdujir.) Mujahid said about Wazdujir: "He was driven out accused on account of madness.
