Verse 109of 200

وَلِلَّهِ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ ٱلْأُمُورُ﴿١٠٩

Translation (Sahih International)

To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And to Allah will [all] matters be returned.

Word-by-word meaning

وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd to Allah (belongs)
مَاwhatever
فِى(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَمَاwamāand whatever
فِى(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚl-arḍithe earth
وَإِلَىwa-ilāAnd to
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
تُرْجَعُtur'jaʿuwill be returned
ٱلْأُمُورُl-umūruthe matters

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

The Command to Establish the Invitation to AllahAllah said,وَلْتَكُن مِّنْكُمْ أُمَّةٌ(Let there arise out of you a group of people)that calls to righteousness, enjoins all that is good and forbids evil in the manner Allah commanded,وَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ(And it is they who are the successful.)Ad-Dahhak said, "They are a special group of the Companions and a special group of those after them, that is those who perform Jihad and the scholars.
