An-Naml (The Ant)

Verse 30of 93

إِنَّهُۥ مِن سُلَيْمَٰنَ وَإِنَّهُۥ بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ﴿٣٠

Translation (Sahih International)

Indeed, it is from Solomon, and indeed, it reads: 'In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful,

Word-by-word meaning

إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, it
مِنmin(is) from
سُلَيْمَـٰنَsulaymānaSulaiman
وَإِنَّهُۥwa-innahuand indeed it (is)
بِسْمِbis'miIn the name
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmānithe Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmithe Most Merciful

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

Sulayman's Letter to BilqisAllah tells us what Sulayman said to the hoopoe when he told him about the people of Saba' and their queen:قَالَ سَنَنظُرُ أَصَدَقْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ الْكَـذِبِينَ ((Sulayman) said: "We shall see whether you speak the truth or you are (one) of the liars.") meaning, `are you telling the truth'أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ الْكَـذِبِينَ(or you are (one) of the liars.
