Ash-Shuraa (The Consultation)

Verse 24of 53

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًۭا ۖ فَإِن يَشَإِ ٱللَّهُ يَخْتِمْ عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ ۗ وَيَمْحُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْبَٰطِلَ وَيُحِقُّ ٱلْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَٰتِهِۦٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ﴿٢٤﴾

Translation (Sahih International)

Or do they say, "He has invented about Allah a lie"? But if Allah willed, He could seal over your heart. And Allah eliminates falsehood and establishes the truth by His words. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts.

Word-by-word meaning

أَمْamOr

قَلْبِكَ ۗqalbikayour heart
وَيَمْحُwayamḥuAnd Allah eliminates
ٱللَّهُl-lahuAnd Allah eliminates
ٱلْبَـٰطِلَl-bāṭilathe falsehood
وَيُحِقُّwayuḥiqquand establishes
ٱلْحَقَّl-ḥaqathe truth
بِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦٓ ۚbikalimātihiby His Words
إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, He
عَلِيمٌۢʿalīmun(is) All-Knowing
بِذَاتِbidhātiof what
ٱلصُّدُورِl-ṣudūri(is in) the breasts

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

Good News of the Blessings of Paradise for the People of FaithHaving mentioned the gardens of Paradise, Allah then says to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds:ذَلِكَ الَّذِى يُبَشِّرُ اللَّهُ عِبَادَهُ الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ الصَّـلِحَـتِ(That is whereof Allah gives glad tidings to His servants who believe and do righteous good deeds.) meaning, this will undoubtedly come to them, because it is glad tidings from Allah to them.
