Az-Zukhruf (The Ornaments of Gold)
Verse 87of 89
وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَهُمْ لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ﴿٨٧﴾
Translation (Sahih International)
And if you asked them who created them, they would surely say, "Allah." So how are they deluded?
Word-by-word meaning
وَلَئِنwala-inAnd if
سَأَلْتَهُمsa-altahumyou ask them
مَّنْmanwho
خَلَقَهُمْkhalaqahumcreated them
لَيَقُولُنَّlayaqūlunnathey will certainly say
ٱللَّهُ ۖl-lahuAllah
فَأَنَّىٰfa-annāThen how
يُؤْفَكُونَyu'fakūnaare they deluded
Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـنِ الرَّحِيمِحـم - تَنزِيلُ الْكِتَـبِ مِنَ اللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَلِيمِ(Ha-Mim. By the manifest Book.) means, plain and clear in both wording and meaning, because it was revealed in the language of the Arabs, which is the most eloquent language for communication among people.
