Verse 27of 54

فَلَنُذِيقَنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ عَذَابًۭا شَدِيدًۭا وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ أَسْوَأَ ٱلَّذِى كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ﴿٢٧

Translation (Sahih International)

But We will surely cause those who disbelieve to taste a severe punishment, and We will surely recompense them for the worst of what they had been doing.

Word-by-word meaning

فَلَنُذِيقَنَّfalanudhīqannaBut surely We will cause to taste
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieve
عَذَابًۭاʿadhābana punishment
شَدِيدًۭاshadīdansevere
وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْwalanajziyannahumand surely We will recompense them
أَسْوَأَaswa-a(the) worst
ٱلَّذِىalladhī(of) what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnado

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

The intimate Companions of the Idolators make Evil Actionsattractive to Them Allah tells us that He is the One Who sends theidolators astray, and that this happens by His will and decree. He isthe All-Wise in His actions, when He appoints for them closecompanions from among the devils of men and Jinn.فَزَيَّنُواْ لَهُم مَّا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ(who have made fair seeming to them, what was before them and what was behind them.
