Qaf (The Letter Qaf)
Verse 16of 45
وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ وَنَعْلَمُ مَا تُوَسْوِسُ بِهِۦ نَفْسُهُۥ ۖ وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ ٱلْوَرِيدِ﴿١٦﴾
Translation (Sahih International)
And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein
Word-by-word meaning
وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainly
خَلَقْنَاkhalaqnāWe created
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَl-insānaman
وَنَعْلَمُwanaʿlamuand We know
مَاmāwhat
تُوَسْوِسُtuwaswisuwhispers
بِهِۦbihito him
نَفْسُهُۥ ۖnafsuhuhis soul
وَنَحْنُwanaḥnuand We
أَقْرَبُaqrabu(are) nearer
إِلَيْهِilayhito him
مِنْminthan
حَبْلِḥabli(his) jugular vein
ٱلْوَرِيدِl-warīdi(his) jugular vein
Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
Allah encompasses and watches all of Man's Activity Allah the Exalted affirms His absolute dominance over mankind, being their Creator and the Knower of everything about them. Allah the Exalted has complete knowledge of all thoughts that cross the mind of man, be they good or evil.
