Verse 14of 109
ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَٰكُمْ خَلَٰٓئِفَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ لِنَنظُرَ كَيْفَ تَعْمَلُونَ﴿١٤﴾
Translation (Sahih International)
Then We made you successors in the land after them so that We may observe how you will do.

خَلَـٰٓئِفَkhalāifasuccessors

ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth

لِنَنظُرَlinanẓuraso that We may see
كَيْفَkayfahow
تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do
Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
The Admonition held in the Destruction of the Previous GenerationsAllah tells us about what happened to past generations when they belied the Messengers ﷺ and the clear signs and proofs the latter brought to them. Allah then made this nation successors after them. He sent to them a Messenger to test their obedience to Him and following His Messenger.
