Al-An'am (The Cattle)

Verse 110of 165

وَنُقَلِّبُ أَفْـِٔدَتَهُمْ وَأَبْصَٰرَهُمْ كَمَا لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِهِۦٓ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍۢ وَنَذَرُهُمْ فِى طُغْيَٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ﴿١١٠

Translation (Sahih International)

And We will turn away their hearts and their eyes just as they refused to believe in it the first time. And We will leave them in their transgression, wandering blindly.

Word-by-word meaning

وَنُقَلِّبُwanuqallibuAnd We will turn
أَفْـِٔدَتَهُمْafidatahumtheir hearts
وَأَبْصَـٰرَهُمْwa-abṣārahumand their sights
كَمَاkamā(just) as
لَمْlamnot
يُؤْمِنُوا۟yu'minūthey believe
بِهِۦٓbihiin it
أَوَّلَawwala(the) first
مَرَّةٍۢmarratintime
وَنَذَرُهُمْwanadharuhumAnd We will leave them
فِىin
طُغْيَـٰنِهِمْṭugh'yānihimtheir transgression
يَعْمَهُونَyaʿmahūnawandering blindly

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

Asking for Miracles and Swearing to Believe if They ComeAllah states that the idolators swore their strongest oaths by Allah, لَئِن جَآءَتْهُمْ ءَايَةٌ(that if there came to them a sign...) a miracle or phenomenon, لَّيُؤْمِنُنَّ بِهَا(they would surely believe therein.) affirming its truth, قُلْ إِنَّمَا الاٌّيَـتُ عِندَ اللَّهِ(Say: "Signs are but with Allah.
