Verse 45of 75

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا لَقِيتُمْ فِئَةًۭ فَٱثْبُتُوا۟ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًۭا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ﴿٤٥

Translation (Sahih International)

O you who have believed, when you encounter a company [from the enemy forces], stand firm and remember Allah much that you may be successful.

Word-by-word meaning

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawho
ءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanūbelieve
إِذَاidhāWhen
لَقِيتُمْlaqītumyou meet
فِئَةًۭfi-atana force
فَٱثْبُتُوا۟fa-uth'butūthen be firm
وَٱذْكُرُوا۟wa-udh'kurūand remember
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
كَثِيرًۭاkathīranmuch
لَّعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you may
تُفْلِحُونَtuf'liḥūna(be) successful

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

Manners of WarAllah instructs His faithful servants in the manners of fighting and methods of courage when meeting the enemy in battle,يَـأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ إِذَا لَقِيتُمْ فِئَةً فَاثْبُتُواْ(O you who believe!
