Verse 47of 75
وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ خَرَجُوا۟ مِن دِيَٰرِهِم بَطَرًۭا وَرِئَآءَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌۭ﴿٤٧﴾
Translation (Sahih International)
And do not be like those who came forth from their homes insolently and to be seen by people and avert [them] from the way of Allah. And Allah is encompassing of what they do.

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
The Idolators leave Makkah, heading for BadrAfter Allah commanded the believers to fight in His cause sincerely and to be mindful of Him, He commanded not to imitate the idolators, who went out of their homesبَطَراً(boastfully) to suppress the truth,وَرِئَآءَ النَّاسِ(and to be seen of men), boasting arrogantly with people.
