Al-Isra (The Night Journey)
Verse 15of 111
مَّنِ ٱهْتَدَىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدِى لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيْهَا ۚ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌۭ وِزْرَ أُخْرَىٰ ۗ وَمَا كُنَّا مُعَذِّبِينَ حَتَّىٰ نَبْعَثَ رَسُولًۭا﴿١٥﴾
Translation (Sahih International)
Whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] his soul. And whoever errs only errs against it. And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And never would We punish until We sent a messenger.
Word-by-word meaning
Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
No One will have to bear the Sins of AnotherAllah tells us that whoever is guided and follows the truth, walking in the footsteps of the Prophet , he will gain the good consequences of that for himself.وَمَن ضَلَّ(And whoever goes astray,) meaning from the truth, deviating from the way of guidance, he is wronging himself and will have to bear the consequences. Then Allah says:وَلاَ تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٌ وِزْرَ أُخْرَى(No one laden with burdens can bear another's burden.
