Verse 27of 111

إِنَّ ٱلْمُبَذِّرِينَ كَانُوٓا۟ إِخْوَٰنَ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينِ ۖ وَكَانَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنُ لِرَبِّهِۦ كَفُورًۭا﴿٢٧

Translation (Sahih International)

Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils, and ever has Satan been to his Lord ungrateful.

Word-by-word meaning

إِنَّinnaIndeed
ٱلْمُبَذِّرِينَl-mubadhirīnathe spendthrifts
كَانُوٓا۟kānūare
إِخْوَٰنَikh'wānabrothers
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ ۖl-shayāṭīni(of) the devils
وَكَانَwakānaAnd is
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُl-shayṭānuthe Shaitaan
لِرَبِّهِۦlirabbihito his Lord
كَفُورًۭاkafūranungrateful

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

The Command to maintain the Ties of Kinship and the Prohibition of ExtravaganceWhen Allah mentions honoring one's parents, He follows this with the command to treat one's relatives well and to maintain the ties of kinship. According to the Hadith:«أُمَّكَ وَأَبَاكَ، ثُمَّ أَدْنَاكَ أَدْنَاك»وفي رواية«ثُمَّ الْأَقْرَبَ فَالْأَقْرَب»(Your mother and your father, then your closest relatives and the next closest.
