Verse 28of 111

وَإِمَّا تُعْرِضَنَّ عَنْهُمُ ٱبْتِغَآءَ رَحْمَةٍۢ مِّن رَّبِّكَ تَرْجُوهَا فَقُل لَّهُمْ قَوْلًۭا مَّيْسُورًۭا﴿٢٨

Translation (Sahih International)

And if you [must] turn away from the needy awaiting mercy from your Lord which you expect, then speak to them a gentle word.

وَإِمَّاwa-immāAnd if

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

The Command to maintain the Ties of Kinship and the Prohibition of ExtravaganceWhen Allah mentions honoring one's parents, He follows this with the command to treat one's relatives well and to maintain the ties of kinship. According to the Hadith:«أُمَّكَ وَأَبَاكَ، ثُمَّ أَدْنَاكَ أَدْنَاك»وفي رواية«ثُمَّ الْأَقْرَبَ فَالْأَقْرَب»(Your mother and your father, then your closest relatives and the next closest.
