Verse 50of 200

وَمُصَدِّقًۭا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَىَّ مِنَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَلِأُحِلَّ لَكُم بَعْضَ ٱلَّذِى حُرِّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ ۚ وَجِئْتُكُم بِـَٔايَةٍۢ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ﴿٥٠﴾

Translation (Sahih International)

And [I have come] confirming what was before me of the Torah and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you. And I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allah and obey me.

وَمُصَدِّقًۭاwamuṣaddiqanAnd confirming

حُرِّمَḥurrimawas forbidden
عَلَيْكُمْ ۚʿalaykumto you
وَجِئْتُكُمwaji'tukumAnd I (have) come to you
بِـَٔايَةٍۢbiāyatinwith a sign
مِّنminfrom
رَّبِّكُمْrabbikumyour Lord
فَٱتَّقُوا۟fa-ittaqūSo fear
ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
وَأَطِيعُونِwa-aṭīʿūniand obey me

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

The Description of `Isa and the Miracles He PerformedAllah states that the good news brought to Maryam about `Isa was even better because Allah would teach him,الْكِتَـبَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ(the Book and Al-Hikmah). It appears that the `Book' the Ayah mentioned here refers to writing. We explained the meaning of Al-Hikmah in the Tafsir of Surat Al-Baqarah.التَّوْرَاةَ وَالإِنجِيلَ(the Tawrah and the Injil).
