An-Nahl (The Bee)

Verse 52of 128

وَلَهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَهُ ٱلدِّينُ وَاصِبًا ۚ أَفَغَيْرَ ٱللَّهِ تَتَّقُونَ﴿٥٢

Translation (Sahih International)

And to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and to Him is [due] worship constantly. Then is it other than Allah that you fear?

Word-by-word meaning

وَلَهُۥwalahuAnd to Him (belongs)

فِى(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwātithe heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
وَلَهُwalahuand to Him
ٱلدِّينُl-dīnu(is due) the worship
وَاصِبًا ۚwāṣibanconstantly
أَفَغَيْرَafaghayraThen is it other (than)
ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
تَتَّقُونَtattaqūnayou fear

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

Allah Alone is Deserving of WorshipAllah tells us that there is no god but He, and that no one else should be worshipped except Him, alone, without partners, for He is the Sovereign, Creator, and Lord of all things. وَلَهُ الدِّينُ وَاصِبًا(His is the religion Wasiba) Ibn `Abbas, Mujahid, `Ikrimah, Maymun bin Mahran, As-Suddi, Qatadah and others said that this means forever. It was also reported that Ibn `Abbas said, "It means obligatory." Mujahid said: "It means purely for Him," i.e.
