Verse 30of 53

وَمَآ أَصَٰبَكُم مِّن مُّصِيبَةٍۢ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتْ أَيْدِيكُمْ وَيَعْفُوا۟ عَن كَثِيرٍۢ﴿٣٠

Translation (Sahih International)

And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much.

Word-by-word meaning

وَمَآwamāAnd whatever
أَصَـٰبَكُمaṣābakumbefalls you
مِّنminof
مُّصِيبَةٍۢmuṣībatin(the) misfortune
فَبِمَاfabimā(is because) of what
كَسَبَتْkasabathave earned
أَيْدِيكُمْaydīkumyour hands
وَيَعْفُوا۟wayaʿfūBut He pardons
عَنʿan[from]
كَثِيرٍۢkathīrinmuch

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

Among the Signs of Allah is the Creation of the Heavens and the Earthوَمِنْ ءَايَـتِهِ(And among His Ayat) the signs which point to His great might and power,خَلْقُ السَّمَـوَتِ وَالاٌّرْضِ وَمَا بَثَّ فِيهِمَا(is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and whatever moving creatures He has dispersed in them both.) means, whatever He has created in them, i.e., in the heavens and the earth.
