Az-Zukhruf (The Ornaments of Gold)

Verse 11of 89

وَٱلَّذِى نَزَّلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۢ بِقَدَرٍۢ فَأَنشَرْنَا بِهِۦ بَلْدَةًۭ مَّيْتًۭا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ تُخْرَجُونَ﴿١١

Translation (Sahih International)

And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth -

Word-by-word meaning

وَٱلَّذِىwa-alladhīAnd the One Who
نَزَّلَnazzalasends down
مِنَminafrom
ٱلسَّمَآءِl-samāithe sky
مَآءًۢmāanwater
بِقَدَرٍۢbiqadarinin (due) measure
فَأَنشَرْنَاfa-ansharnāthen We revive
بِهِۦbihiwith it
بَلْدَةًۭbaldatana land
مَّيْتًۭا ۚmaytandead
كَذَٰلِكَkadhālikathus
تُخْرَجُونَtukh'rajūnayou will be brought forth

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

The Idolators' admission that Allah is the Sole Creator, and Further Evidence of thatAllah says: `If you, O Muhammad, were to ask these idolators who associate others with Allah and worship others besides Him,'مَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَـوَتِ وَالاٌّرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ خَلَقَهُنَّ الْعَزِيزُ الْعَلِيمُ("Who has created the heavens and the earth" They will surely say: "The All-Mighty, the All-Knower created them.
