Az-Zukhruf (The Ornaments of Gold)

Verse 35of 89

وَزُخْرُفًۭا ۚ وَإِن كُلُّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَّا مَتَٰعُ ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ وَٱلْءَاخِرَةُ عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ﴿٣٥

Translation (Sahih International)

And gold ornament. But all that is not but the enjoyment of worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous.

Word-by-word meaning

وَزُخْرُفًۭا ۚwazukh'rufanAnd ornaments of gold
وَإِنwa-inAnd not (is)

لَمَّاlammābut
مَتَـٰعُmatāʿuan enjoyment
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِl-ḥayati(of) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا ۚl-dun'yā(of) the world
وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُwal-ākhiratuAnd the Hereafter
عِندَʿindawith
رَبِّكَrabbikayour Lord
لِلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīna(is) for the righteous

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

Ibrahim's Declaration of Tawhid HereAllah tells us about His servant, Messenger and close Friend, the leader of the monotheists and the father of all subsequent Prophets, from whom Quraysh were descended and claimed to have taken their religion.
