Ghafir (The Forgiver)
Verse 55of 85
فَٱصْبِرْ إِنَّ وَعْدَ ٱللَّهِ حَقٌّۭ وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلْعَشِىِّ وَٱلْإِبْكَٰرِ﴿٥٥﴾
Translation (Sahih International)
So be patient, [O Muhammad]. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And ask forgiveness for your sin and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord in the evening and the morning.
Word-by-word meaning
فَٱصْبِرْfa-iṣ'birSo be patient
إِنَّinnaindeed
وَعْدَwaʿda(the) Promise of Allah
ٱللَّهِl-lahi(the) Promise of Allah
حَقٌّۭḥaqqun(is) true
وَٱسْتَغْفِرْwa-is'taghfirAnd ask forgiveness
لِذَنۢبِكَlidhanbikafor your sin
وَسَبِّحْwasabbiḥand glorify
بِحَمْدِbiḥamdi(the) praise
رَبِّكَrabbika(of) your Lord
بِٱلْعَشِىِّbil-ʿashiyiin the evening
وَٱلْإِبْكَـٰرِwal-ib'kāriand the morning
Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
The Victory of the Messengers and the Believersإِنَّا لَنَنصُرُ رُسُلَنَا وَالَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ فِى الْحَيَوةِ الدُّنْيَا(Verily, We will indeed make victorious Our Messengers and those who believe in this world's life).
