Verse 20of 83

وَجَآءَ مِنْ أَقْصَا ٱلْمَدِينَةِ رَجُلٌۭ يَسْعَىٰ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ﴿٢٠

Translation (Sahih International)

And there came from the farthest end of the city a man, running. He said, "O my people, follow the messengers.

Word-by-word meaning

وَجَآءَwajāaAnd came
مِنْminfrom
أَقْصَاaqṣā(the) farthest end
ٱلْمَدِينَةِl-madīnati(of) the city
رَجُلٌۭrajuluna man
يَسْعَىٰyasʿārunning
قَالَqālaHe said
يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my People
ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ittabiʿūFollow
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَl-mur'salīnathe Messengers

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

قَالَ يقَوْمِ اتَّبِعُواْ الْمُرْسَلِينَ(He said: "O my people! Obey the Messengers.") -- he urged his people to follow the Messengers who had come to them.اتَّبِعُواْ مَن لاَّ يَسْـَلُكُمْ أَجْراً(Obey those who ask no wages of you,) means, `for the Message which they convey to you, and they are rightly-guided in what they are calling you to, the worship of Allah Alone with no partner or associate.
