Verse 65of 83
ٱلْيَوْمَ نَخْتِمُ عَلَىٰٓ أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَتُكَلِّمُنَآ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَتَشْهَدُ أَرْجُلُهُم بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ﴿٦٥﴾
Translation (Sahih International)
That Day, We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn.
Word-by-word meaning
ٱلْيَوْمَal-yawmaThis Day
نَخْتِمُnakhtimuWe will seal
عَلَىٰٓʿalā[on]
أَفْوَٰهِهِمْafwāhihimtheir mouths
وَتُكَلِّمُنَآwatukallimunāand will speak to Us
أَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimtheir hands
وَتَشْهَدُwatashhaduand will bear witness
أَرْجُلُهُمarjuluhumtheir feet
بِمَاbimāabout what
كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
يَكْسِبُونَyaksibūnaearn
Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)
هَـذِهِ جَهَنَّمُ الَّتِى كُنتُمْ تُوعَدُونَ (This is Hell which you were promised!) meaning, `this is what the Messengers warned you about, and you did not believe them.'اصْلَوْهَا الْيَوْمَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ (Burn (enter) therein this Day, for that you used to disbelieve).
