Prophet 24 of 25

عيسى

Isa (Jesus)

Ruhullah — Spirit from Allah

Born miraculously to Maryam, Isa spoke from the cradle, healed the sick, and called to the worship of Allah alone (Surah Maryam 19:16-40).

Referenced in:Surah Maryam 19:16-40Surah Ali 'Imran 3:42-63Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:110-120Surah An-Nisa 4:157-159Surah As-Saff 61:6

The Miraculous Birth to Maryam

Maryam (Mary) withdrew from her family to a place in the east. An angel appeared to her in the form of a perfect man and told her she would have a son, despite never having been touched by any man (Surah Maryam 19:16-21). She was told: 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us' (Surah Maryam 19:21). Isa (peace be upon him) was created by Allah's command 'Be' — just as Adam was created without a father (Surah Ali 'Imran 3:59).

Speaking from the Cradle

When Maryam brought her baby to her people, they accused her of immorality. She pointed to the infant, and they asked how they could speak to a baby. Isa then spoke from the cradle: 'Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive' (Surah Maryam 19:30-31). His first words declared his servanthood to Allah — not divinity, but devoted worship.

Miracles by Allah's Permission

Allah granted Isa extraordinary miracles: he healed the blind and the leper, raised the dead, and fashioned a bird from clay that came to life — all by Allah's permission (Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:110). These miracles were not evidence of divinity; they were signs given by Allah to authenticate his prophethood. Isa himself always attributed them to Allah: 'I have come to you with a sign from your Lord' (Surah Ali 'Imran 3:49).

Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:110

The Message of Isa — Worship Allah Alone

Isa's core message was identical to every prophet before him: 'Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path' (Surah Maryam 19:36). He confirmed the Torah that came before him and brought glad tidings of a messenger to come after him, named Ahmad (Surah As-Saff 61:6). The Quran is clear that Isa never claimed divinity — he was a servant, a prophet, and a word from Allah cast to Maryam (Surah An-Nisa 4:171).

Raised to Allah — Not Crucified

The Quran states that Isa was not killed nor crucified, but it was made to appear so to those who claimed to have killed him. Allah raised Isa to Himself (Surah An-Nisa 4:157-158). He remains alive and will return before the Day of Judgement, as confirmed in authentic hadith (Sahih al-Bukhari 3448). Muslims believe in Isa as one of the greatest prophets — honouring him without worshipping him, and awaiting his return as a sign of the Hour.

Lessons from Prophet Isa (Jesus)

1

Isa's very first words from the cradle affirmed he was a servant of Allah — true honour lies in servanthood, not in claimed divinity.

2

Miracles belong to Allah; prophets are channels, not sources, of divine power.

3

Every prophet brought the same core message: worship Allah alone. This consistency is itself a proof of truth.

4

Allah protects His prophets — Isa was raised to Allah and will return by Allah's decree.

5

Judging by appearances leads to error — those who thought they killed Isa were mistaken, as the Quran clarifies.
