Verse 43of 109

وَمِنْهُم مَّن يَنظُرُ إِلَيْكَ ۚ أَفَأَنتَ تَهْدِى ٱلْعُمْىَ وَلَوْ كَانُوا۟ لَا يُبْصِرُونَ﴿٤٣

Translation (Sahih International)

And among them are those who look at you. But can you guide the blind although they will not [attempt to] see?

Word-by-word meaning

وَمِنْهُمwamin'humAnd among them
مَّنman(are some) who
يَنظُرُyanẓurulook
إِلَيْكَ ۚilaykaat you
أَفَأَنتَafa-antaBut (can) you
تَهْدِىtahdīguide
ٱلْعُمْىَl-ʿum'yathe blind
وَلَوْwalaweven though
كَانُوا۟kānūthey [were]
لَا(do) not
يُبْصِرُونَyub'ṣirūnasee

Commentary (Tafsir Ibn Kathir)

The Command to be Free and Clear from the IdolatorsAllah said to His Prophet : `If these idolators belie you, then be clear from them and their deeds.' فَقُل لِّى عَمَلِى وَلَكُمْ عَمَلُكُمْ(Say: "For me are my deeds and for you are your deeds!") Similarly, Allah said: قُلْ يأَيُّهَا الْكَـفِرُونَ - لاَ أَعْبُدُ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ (Say: "O you disbelievers! I worship not that which you worship.")109:1-2 to the end of the Surah.
