Prophet 3 of 25

نوح

Nuh (Noah)

The First Messenger

The first messenger sent to a wayward people, Nuh called his nation to Allah for 950 years (Surah Al-Ankabut 29:14).

950 Years of Unwavering Da'wah

Nuh (peace be upon him) called his people to worship Allah alone for 950 years (Surah Al-Ankabut 29:14). He appealed to them day and night, publicly and privately, but the majority rejected him (Surah Nuh 71:5-9). Despite the constant rejection, he never abandoned his mission. His perseverance over nearly a millennium remains one of the most extraordinary examples of dedication in all of prophetic history.

Surah Nuh 71:5-9

The Refusal of a Stubborn People

The elite of Nuh's people dismissed him as a mere mortal and mocked his followers as lowly and insignificant (Surah Hud 11:27). They put their fingers in their ears and covered themselves with their garments, persisting in arrogance (Surah Nuh 71:7). Their objection was not intellectual — they simply refused to accept a message that challenged their power, traditions, and the idol worship their ancestors had practised.

Surah Nuh 71:7

The Command to Build the Ark

When it became clear that the people would not believe, Allah instructed Nuh to build the Ark under His guidance (Surah Hud 11:37). The leaders of his people passed by and mocked him as he built the ship far from any body of water. Nuh responded that just as they laughed at him, a time would come when they would understand the truth of his warning (Surah Hud 11:38).

Surah Hud 11:37-38

The Flood and the Tragedy of His Son

When Allah's command came, the oven gushed forth water and rain poured from the sky. Nuh loaded the Ark with believers and pairs of every creature (Surah Hud 11:40). In one of the most heart-wrenching moments in the Quran, Nuh called out to his son to board, but the son refused, saying he would take refuge on a mountain. The waves came between them, and the son was among the drowned (Surah Hud 11:42-43).

Surah Hud 11:42-43

A Lesson in Submission — Faith Over Blood

After the flood, Nuh called upon Allah to save his son, arguing that he was from his family. Allah corrected him: 'He is not of your family; his conduct was unrighteous' (Surah Hud 11:46). Nuh immediately sought forgiveness for having asked. This moment teaches that faith, not bloodline, determines one's true belonging. Even a prophet's child is not guaranteed salvation without personal faith.

Surah Hud 11:45-47

Lessons from Prophet Nuh (Noah)

1

Consistency in calling to truth is required, even when results are not visible for decades or centuries.

2

Social status and ancestry do not guarantee guidance — each soul answers for itself.

3

Patience with rejection is part of the prophetic path and every believer's journey.

4

Family bonds, no matter how strong, cannot override the bond of faith with Allah.

5

Allah's promises are certain — those who trust in Him are never abandoned.
