Sunan Abu Dawud

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the male and female devils.

Narrated by Anas ibn Malik

أَسْبِغُوا الْوُضُوءَ وَيْلٌ لِلأَعْقَابِ مِنَ النَّارِ

Complete the wudu thoroughly. Woe to the heels from the Hellfire.

Narrated by Abu Hurairah

مُرُوا أَوْلاَدَكُمْ بِالصَّلاَةِ وَهُمْ أَبْنَاءُ سَبْعِ سِنِينَ

Command your children to pray when they are seven years old.

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr

صَلُّوا كَمَا رَأَيْتُمُونِي أُصَلِّي

Pray as you have seen me praying.

Narrated by Malik ibn al-Huwayrith

إِنَّ صَلاَةَ الْمَرْءِ فِي بَيْتِهِ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ صَلاَتِهِ فِي مَسْجِدِي هَذَا إِلاَّ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ

A person's prayer in his house is better than his prayer in this mosque of mine, except for the obligatory prayer.

Narrated by Zayd ibn Thabit

خَيْرُ يَوْمٍ طَلَعَتْ عَلَيْهِ الشَّمْسُ يَوْمُ الْجُمُعَةِ فِيهِ خُلِقَ آدَمُ وَفِيهِ أُدْخِلَ الْجَنَّةَ وَفِيهِ أُخْرِجَ مِنْهَا

The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. On it Adam was created, on it he was admitted to Paradise, and on it he was expelled from it.

Narrated by Abu Hurairah

الدُّعَاءُ هُوَ الْعِبَادَةُ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ ادْعُونِي أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمْ

Supplication is the essence of worship. Then he recited: 'Your Lord said: Call upon Me, I will respond to you.' (Quran 40:60)

Narrated by Nu'man ibn Bashir

إِنَّ اللَّهَ حَيِيٌّ كَرِيمٌ يَسْتَحِي مِنْ عَبْدِهِ إِذَا رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ إِلَيْهِ أَنْ يَرُدَّهُمَا صِفْرًا

Allah is Shy and Generous. He is shy of His servant when he raises his hands to Him, to return them empty.

Narrated by Salman al-Farisi

سَيِّدُ الاِسْتِغْفَارِ أَنْ تَقُولَ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ

The master of seeking forgiveness is to say: 'O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I uphold Your covenant and promise to the best of my ability.'

Narrated by Shaddad ibn Aws

مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يُذْنِبُ ذَنْبًا فَيَتَوَضَّأُ فَيُحْسِنُ الطُّهُورَ ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ يَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ إِلاَّ غَفَرَ لَهُ

No servant commits a sin, then performs wudu well, then stands and prays two units of prayer, then asks Allah for forgiveness, except that Allah forgives him.

Narrated by Abu Bakr al-Siddiq

خَيْرُكُمْ خَيْرُكُمْ لأَهْلِهِ وَأَنَا خَيْرُكُمْ لأَهْلِي

The best of you are those who are best to their families, and I am the best of you to my family.

Narrated by Aisha

الْمُجَاهِدُ مَنْ جَاهَدَ نَفْسَهُ فِي طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ

The one who strives (mujahid) is the one who strives against his own self in obedience to Allah.

Narrated by Fadalah ibn Ubayd

التَّاجِرُ الصَّدُوقُ الأَمِينُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ

The truthful, trustworthy merchant is with the Prophets, the truthful, and the martyrs.

Narrated by Abu Sa'id al-Khudri

مَنْ سَلَكَ طَرِيقًا يَطْلُبُ فِيهِ عِلْمًا سَلَكَ اللَّهُ بِهِ طَرِيقًا مِنْ طُرُقِ الْجَنَّةِ

Whoever follows a path seeking knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise.

Narrated by Abu al-Darda

مَنْ تَشَبَّهَ بِقَوْمٍ فَهُوَ مِنْهُمْ

Whoever imitates a people is one of them.

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar

إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَبْعَثُ لِهَذِهِ الأُمَّةِ عَلَى رَأْسِ كُلِّ مِائَةِ سَنَةٍ مَنْ يُجَدِّدُ لَهَا دِينَهَا

Allah will raise for this ummah at the head of every hundred years someone who will renew for it its religion.

Narrated by Abu Hurairah

عَلَيْكُمْ بِسُنَّتِي وَسُنَّةِ الْخُلَفَاءِ الرَّاشِدِينَ الْمَهْدِيِّينَ عَضُّوا عَلَيْهَا بِالنَّوَاجِذِ

Hold fast to my Sunnah and the way of the Rightly Guided Caliphs. Cling to it firmly with your molar teeth.

Narrated by Irbad ibn Sariyah

مَنْ أَحَبَّ لِلَّهِ وَأَبْغَضَ لِلَّهِ وَأَعْطَى لِلَّهِ وَمَنَعَ لِلَّهِ فَقَدِ اسْتَكْمَلَ الإِيمَانَ

Whoever loves for the sake of Allah, hates for the sake of Allah, gives for the sake of Allah, and withholds for the sake of Allah — he has perfected his faith.

Narrated by Abu Umamah

إِنَّ مِنْ أَحَبِّكُمْ إِلَيَّ أَحْسَنَكُمْ أَخْلاَقًا

The most beloved of you to me are those with the best character.

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr

الْمَرْءُ عَلَى دِينِ خَلِيلِهِ فَلْيَنْظُرْ أَحَدُكُمْ مَنْ يُخَالِلُ

A person follows the religion of his close friend, so let each of you look at whom he befriends.

Narrated by Abu Hurairah

الْمُسْلِمُ أَخُو الْمُسْلِمِ لاَ يَظْلِمُهُ وَلاَ يُسْلِمُهُ مَنْ كَانَ فِي حَاجَةِ أَخِيهِ كَانَ اللَّهُ فِي حَاجَتِهِ

A Muslim is a brother of a Muslim. He does not wrong him or forsake him. Whoever fulfills the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs.

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar

لاَ يَشْكُرُ اللَّهَ مَنْ لاَ يَشْكُرُ النَّاسَ

He who does not thank people does not thank Allah.

Narrated by Abu Hurairah

تَجِدُ مِنْ شَرِّ النَّاسِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ ذَا الْوَجْهَيْنِ الَّذِي يَأْتِي هَؤُلاَءِ بِوَجْهٍ وَهَؤُلاَءِ بِوَجْهٍ

You will find among the worst people on the Day of Resurrection, in the sight of Allah, the two-faced person who approaches one group with one face and another group with another face.

Narrated by Abu Hurairah

بِاسْمِكَ اللَّهُمَّ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا

In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.

Narrated by Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

All praise is due to Allah, Who gave us life after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection.

Narrated by Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ

In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah.
